Want to help keep the trails in DuPont Forest in top condition year round?

If you can hike or ride the trails -- you've got what it takes to make a difference on our trails.

Many hands make light work --- especially when it comes to routine preventive trail maintenance.

To help protect and preserve the hard work done by the DuPont Trail Crew, DSRF Recreation Team, and outside contractors -- we're developing more opportunities that require less manual labor and offer more flexible hours so that people of all ages, abilities, and availability can get involved and give back to our trails.

HINT: If you can pick up a stick that is blocking a trail drain or carry someone else's water bottle or leaf blower fuel bottle - we can use your help!

    • Flexible volunteer hours
    • Light work
    • Be safe, have fun, and do a little trail maintenance while we're out enjoying the Forest.
    • Tools and training provided.

    How can you get involved?

    • Help report trail conditions on your favorite trails
    • Join a small group that is maintaining your favorite trail
    • Volunteer as a "leaf blower buddy"

Join Invasive Plant Crew leaders for removal of non native invasive plants (NNIP) in DuPont!

Become part of a crew of volunteers working to combat the spread of NNIPs in our public lands. Expect to learn best practices, some identification, get to work and have fun! This group aims to meet every other Wednesday but repeat attendance is not required to join us on a workday.

Meet us at the Guion Farm Parking lot. We will be working the open fields near the parking area. This is more of a combination Non-Native Invasive plant removal and Forest Stewardship. DuPont has worked hard to make these areas open fields with wildflower plots for pollinators. Our goal is to remove all woody plants (multi-flora rose and tree sapplings, native and non-native, will be the majority). A good area to give back to the forest service.   All tools and PPE will be supplied, but if you prefer to bring your own gloves, hand clippers, or loppers, or hand saws, you are welcome to.  All ages and experience level are welcome. Expect to work in a variety of environmental conditions including full sun, under tree canopy, dry road and trail edges, in and around streams and drainages, along with all of the possible hazards that come with working outside: thorny brush, bees, snakes, poison ivy, ticks, etc. Expect some moderately strenuous activity including hiking on a variety of terrain, repeating bending over/standing up and repeated use of hand tools. Please bring plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.

Participants must wear a long sleeve shirt, long pants, and sturdy footwear such as hiking boots. It is recommended you also bring a hat, sunscreen, bug spray and water.

Any cancellations will be communicated by email by 3pm the day before the event. If you need to cancel after registration, please email David Bode, who is the voluntter leader for this event at: bodedj11@gmail.com.
