     We will carpool in and park in the open field at the intersection of Hickory Mtn Rd and Ridgeline Trail.  We will hike from there to the Ridgeline singletrack and begin work where the last crew left off.  Ridgeline singletrack will be closed during the trail work. 

    Type of Work: Drain cleaning and/or rebuilding.  Erosion repair including some minor armoring and repairing trail divots.  

    Finish Time: Noon

    Physical Requirements:

    - Must be able to hike at least 3 miles, round trip, with approximately 150 feet of ascent and descent while carrying trail tools. 

    Tools: Provided, but don't hesitate to bring your favorite tool. If you bring a tool be sure you write your name on it. 

    Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Heavy boots, gloves.  Bring water. 

    Crew Size Limit30 people

    Waiver:  Each volunteer must fill out a 2025 FODF Trail Crew Waiver.  Waiver forms will be available on site.

    Join Invasive Plant Crew leaders for removal of non native invasive plants in DuPont!


    Become part of a crew of volunteers working to combat the spread of NNIPs in our public lands. Expect to learn best practices, some identification, get to work and have fun! This group aims to meet every other Wednesday but repeat attendance is not required to join us on a workday. 


    Meet us at the Hooker Falls upper parking lot. We will walk to the base of the falls hand pull and bag invasive grasses and weeds.  All tools and PPE will be supplied, but if you prefer to bring your own gloves, hand clippers, or loppers, or hand saws, you are welcome to.  All ages and experience level are welcome. Expect to work in a variety of environmental conditions including full sun, under tree canopy, dry road and trail edges, in and around streams and drainages, along with all of the possible hazards that come with working outside: thorny brush, bees, snakes, poison ivy, ticks, etc. Expect some moderately strenuous activity including hiking on a variety of terrain, repeating bending over/standing up and repeated use of hand tools. Please bring plenty of fluids to stay hydrated.


    Participants must wear a long sleeve shirt, long pants, hat, and sturdy footwear such as hiking boots. It is recommended you also bring a hat, sunscreen, bug spray and water.

    Join us for another Beyond the Falls hike in the Forest meant to take you out to some less-traveled trails.  

    Your host will be Wende Fonvielle, a FODF Board Member with a background in education and leading wilderness exploration.

    This time we will hike Big Rock, Cedar Rock, Little River and Corn Mill Shoals and Burnt Mountain.  Consider this a moderate hike of 6 miles with 881 feet of elevation gain.  There is one small water crossing.

    We will meet at the Corn Mill Shoals Parking Lot.

    Plan to spend up to 3 hours on trails with enough fluids and appropriate apparel/footwear. Hiking poles are recommended.

    In the event of impending inclement weather, you will be notified by email the evening before.

    All proceeds support Friends of DuPont Forest and their mission to protect and enhance the natural resources of DuPont State Recreational Forest.

    Raffle drawing will take place at the Friends of DuPont Forest Membership Meeting on August 14 at Sideways Farm Brewery. You do not have to be present to win but we'd love to see you there!

    - Must be able to hike at least 3 miles, round trip, with approximately 150 feet of ascent and descent while carrying trail tools. 

    -Must be able to excavate and move large quantities of organic matter and dirt OR cut and remove 3" diameter saplings and shrubs.

    Tools: Provided, but don't hesitate to bring your favorite tool. 

    Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Heavy boots, gloves. Safety glasses if doing corridor clearing.   Safety glasses will be provided for those who do not have them.  Bring water. 

    Crew Size Limit: 40 people

    Waiver:  Each volunteer must fill out a 2025 FODF Trail Crew Waiver.  Blank forms will be available at the assembly area.

     On Saturday October 18,2025, Friends of DuPont Forest will host the 8th annual DuPont Forest Festival, an event celebrating the adventure and beauty of DuPont State Recreational Forest. 

    WHERE: DuPont State Recreational Forest, Guion Access Area

    WHEN: Saturday, October, 18, 2025 10am–3pm

    The DuPont Forest Festival is a free, family friendly event open to the public. It is hosted by Friends of DuPont Forest and sponsored by Allen Tate/Beverly-Hanks and Cognative MTB

    The DuPont Forest Festival is a celebration of all the adventure and history found in DuPont State Forest. 

    We’ll have a mix of drop-in activities, demonstrations, group tours, and hikes, all perfect for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Our number one goal for the Forest Festival is to teach people to love the Forest. Along with having fun, the activities will weave in education about  reducing impacts to the Forest, waterfall safety, trails that serve multiple types of recreationalists  and Forest conservation. Each event will be led by an expert volunteer and representative from our partner organizations.


    We are again thrilled to partner with the iDaph Events and welcome the Tree Tops Trail Race.
