Join us to discover an abandoned moonshine still in our forest. This hike will be led by Jennifer Nelson, a FODF board member.
We will meet at Guion parking lot at 10 am and hike up Rocky Ridge Trail to the remnants of an abandoned moonshine still.
Plan on a 2-3 hour trip. The total hike is a little less than 3 miles with about 400 feet of elevation change. We will be leaving the trail to get to the still and this involves traversing a rhododendron forest. The ground in this area is steep and slippery. Along the way we will discuss the history of moonshine in the area and talk about the Moonshine King of Appalachia.
