Join the Friends of DuPont Forest for an educational Mushroom Hike. This adventure will be led by Charlotte Caplan, an amateur mycologist with 40+ years of experience studying mushrooms and past president of the Asheville Mushroom Club.
The hike will begin at the upper Hooker Falls Parking Lot where we will make a two mile long out and back walk on Holly Road Trail. As usual for a summer hike in the forest we recommend sturdy footwear, a hat, insect repellent and water.
To enhance the experience, we recommend you bring a field guide and hand lens/magnifier. Suggested field guides consist of: "A Field Guide to Mushrooms of the Carolinas" or 'National Audubon Society, Field Guide to Mushrooms."
